In September 2024 I was at the Siena conference on the Europe of the Future as a panelist, moderator, and guest. The conference organized by Vision Think Tank was an opportunity to make an interview with the former Italian prime minister and former president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi. He spoke of the urgent need to change the voting in the European Council, and if it is not done, the ground will be lost, other countries will spread their influence in the candidate countries, and the EU will die. He mentioned the last part three times, and the voting with unanimity he has described as an institutional nightmare.

Worries that the European Union will lose the reason for its existence and statements that it is necessary to remove the right of veto, which blocks important issues for the development of the Union, are heard more and more often among current and former officials in it.
María João Rodrigues, a former Portuguese minister and member of the European Parliament who is considered a "mother of the Lisbon strategy" for exiting the economic stagnation of the EU, has participated in the final version of the Lisbon Treaty. Many see it as complicating the process of accession and integration into the EU. From a distance, João Rodrigues says that a revision of it and other treaties should be done. Her points of view can be heard in the video that you can open by clicking the picture.
